Managing Director Kim Cannon said Firstmac had chosen to sponsor the Foundation’s flagship fundraising campaign - The Captain’s Ride - after seeing firsthand the wonderful work that Steve Waugh and his team were doing to help sick children.

“It is a terrible thing for a child to suffer from a serious illness and even more so when they have a rare condition and may feel like they and their family have to struggle alone,” Mr Cannon said.

“The Steve Waugh Foundation is doing very important work in helping these families and we are happy we can support them.”

Firstmac’s sponsorship of The Captain’s Ride follows a number of years where Firstmac team members have participated in the ride which is a gruelling 6-day on-road cycle tour and Leadership Program.

Participants in the ride take on a commitment to raise significant funds through donations to support the Foundation’s work and also have the opportunity to meet some of the inspiring children who have received grants from the Foundation.

Steve Waugh Foundation Founder Steve Waugh welcomed Firstmac’s sponsorship of The Captain’s Ride.

“We feel honoured and grateful to work alongside Firstmac who share many of the same values and philosophies that we do as a Foundation,” Mr Waugh said.

“Together we form part of a movement that aims to inspire, involve, and engage likeminded Partners in the hope of emulating the kids and families we support who show incredible strength of character.”
